In one of my earlier social media posts I was describing the fun of finding feels and grooves that I hadn’t tried before, and pushing my songwriting boundaries. Not only has it been productive for me, but Donna has been in lockstep, soaking up the vibes and expanding her (already impressive) trick bag of vocal chops along the way. We have been doing a fair bit of writing over the last few weeks, and we’ve put down some tracks that have had me looking at her, thinking, “wow babe, I didn’t know you could do that!”. My rocker chick has thrown down shades of Joss Stone, Beth Hart and Suzanne Vega in a masterclass in not judging on reputation or the cover art. We’re still rocking the blues, but with a depth I didn’t know we had until these songs were written.
I don’t know how much luck we’re going to have finding a wider audience next year, but those people who find us are in for a rare treat.
